上山明子（うえやま あきこ）
日本在住。
彫刻家。乾漆技法を基盤に、日本の伝統素材である漆を用いた立体作品およびインスタレーションを制作。近年は、和紙素材を加工したワーロンシートや3Dプリンターなどの現代技術と組み合わせ、光・構造・身体感覚の関係性を探る表現を展開している。
フィンランドでのアーティスト・イン・レジデンス、パリのシテ・インターナショナル・デ・ザールでの滞在制作など、国内外で活動。展覧会やワークショップを通して、日本の漆文化の新たな可能性を発信している。
■ Artist Biography
Akiko Ueyama
Based in Japan.
Akiko Ueyama is a sculptor working with traditional Japanese urushi (lacquer), particularly the kanshitsu (dry lacquer) technique. Her practice explores sculptural forms and installations that engage with light, structure, and bodily perception.
In recent years, she has expanded her work by integrating urushi with contemporary materials such as Warlon (resin-processed washi) and digital technologies including 3D printing.
Her international activities include an artist residency in Finland and a residency at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Through exhibitions and workshops, she continues to explore new possibilities of urushi in a contemporary context.
