Chen Chia Yi has always been concerned about the phenomenon of environmental change and the growth of plants in an unnatural situation. She uses two kinds of objective media, artificial landscapes and construction site objects, which are seen as the extension of creative thinking, to reflect personal inner feelings and hidden conscious flow.
Chen Chia Yi projects her childhood memories on the construction site. Through the fusion of the real and illusion of space-time, she creates a heterotopia that comparing the present and the past. She deliberately puts artificial plants in this space altering it into a man-made landscape for audience to move around, and by doing so referring to the geographical imagination of today’s construction site and tomorrow’s ruin.
