Please describe the concept of your artwork in 1000 words.
The Culture house is a VR based education tool primarily focused on connecting and understanding cultures around the world. Within each room you can connect and listen to another person’s story through a hologram. In the future it would be developed to be an interactive experience where you could connect with someone across the world and talk as though they were in the room.
This was developed as the covid 19 pandemic has restricted travel. Many people travel across the world to learn about other cultures, volunteer and explore. It is also known that cultural education both supresses racism and xenophobic behaviours therefore the creation of a game like tool with interactivity built in would encourage younger people to take part. It is hoped that this would change thinking patterns from a young age. -

Work Specification
The culture house has been made in Unreal Engine 4. Other software would be needed to create a more immersive experience when taking this forward. It was important to use a games engine for this project as its interactivity capabilities far outweigh what can be done with traditional filming techniques and as travel is so restricted this would provide a solution.
