Brief concept description of the submitted project/idea
The Earth Bin Compost Kit was fabricated during the height of the pandemic in 2020 to allow everyone locked down at home to experience nature through enabling people to turn their food waste into compost which can be used to grow food outside of their homes.

Detailed description of the submitted project/idea
During the onset of the pandemic in 2021, there was a sudden boom in home gardening because the lockdowns had made people feel the need to connect with nature in the confines of their home. However, not every home is suitable for growing edibles, as some homes may lack sufficient sunlight for growing.
It was then we realized, that whilst not everyone could start a garden at home to connect with nature, most people could definitely start composting at home to connect with nature - by turning their food waste into compost that can be used for growing elsewhere.
During the height of this time when we were confined to our own homes, we were then able to quickly fabricate and hack a prototype (with the help of FabCafe) of a no-frills, small home compost bin kit, by putting a few important existing elements together - a beautifully designed existing pot system, combined with lids and segments to keep the waste areas apart.
We had tested with this system for a long time before this period, and felt it was the most straightforward way of composting that everyone in the team was confident with. We had tried other more complicated composting systems before, but felt the 'Pot Composting Method' was still the most fool-proof for people like us.
The system has then been sold many times over via our online shop for the public to purchase and use in their own homes. -
