Brief concept description of the submitted project/idea
Imagine a circular exhibition design which can be completely recycled.
The design concept, which is stacked and pieced repeated and identical small-scale paper units together to design the display racks, showcases and screens which might be used in the exhibition hall. The material of the concept is used recycled pulp to replace the original common disposable plastic or wood that is difficult to quickly recycle. Taking advantage of its water-soluble properties, after the exhibition, what was originally regarded as a one-off exhibition design object can be transformed into a raw material for the next exhibition design.
According to statistics from the Environmental Protection Agency of Taiwan’s Executive Yuan, the largest distribution of resource recycling in the past ten years has been paper and paper products. In terms of exhibition design standards (such as dimensional), it can consume a certain amount of recycled paper. Furthermore, the recycled pulp can also be recycled twice or three times. Therefore, compared to other materials, the accessible of recycled paper and its price have more advantages.
On the other hand, paper products were mostly linear, flat, and two-dimensional shapes in the past. This design concept is planned with a digital manufacturing design process to challenge the possibility of more load-bearing, curved, and organic shapes of paper. Design reusable pulp unit moulds, and provide users with customized mold size adjustment requirements. (With current technology, these 3D moulds can be completely recycled into another roll of recycled 3D printing material after the end of their life cycle.)
It is hoped to establish an exhibition that can escape the limitations of paper products and can completely convey the circular design. -

We try to build a small-scale design and production process, and through the exhibition to convey the concept of circular design, communicate and share with people who come to the exhibition.
This concept is currently in the research stage and is expected to be produced and exhibited in 3 months.
Future research :
1. Construct the three-dimensional shape of the paper unit to challenge the diversification of the three-dimensional space of paper products.
2. Generate pulp moulds by digital manufacturing. (3D print、Rhino、Grasshopper)
3. Test the yield strength, pull resistance, and load-bearing of the paper unit .
4. Observe the connection between between the texture of the paper units and the space.
5. Collect the doubts and thoughts of the general public about this design concept and the circular design -
