近年、地球温暖化への懸念が高まり、温室効果ガスと関連が深いといわれているプラスチックが注目を浴びています。また、海洋プラスチック問題においても、海洋生物達の苦しむ姿は大変ショッキングなものでした。
当社は工場内で排出されるプラスチックをかねてよりリサイクルしておりますが、お客様の手に渡った商品に使用されているプラスチックは、ほとんどが使用後に廃棄処分されているのが現状です。コンタクトレンズの空ケースは素材としての価値が高いこともあり、なんとかマテリアルリサイクルおよびサーキュラーエコノミーを実現したいと考え、2019年に「BLUE SEED PROJECT～海に愛（Eye）を～」を発足いたしました。
「BLUE SEED PROJECT」は、当社製品に限らず、全ての使い捨てのコンタクトレンズの空ケースを、消費者のみなさまから回収して再資源化するユーザー参加型のプロジェクトです。回収したコンタクトレンズの空ケースは物流パレットの強化剤として使用され、物流パレットが劣化すれば回収して溶解し、新しい物流パレットへと半永久的に再生しつづける、「マテリアルリサイクル」「サーキュラーエコノミー」を実現した仕組みとなっています。また、空ケースの販売収益は、海洋ごみ問題解決に取り組んでいる(一社) JEANに全額寄付することでさらなる環境改善へとつなげております。

In recent years, concerns about global warming have increased, and plastics, which are considered closely related to greenhouse gas emissions, have garnered significant attention. Furthermore, regarding the issue of marine plastic pollution, it was very shocking to witness the suffering of marine life.
Although we have been recycling the plastic discharged from the SEED Konosu Research Institute for some time, the plastic used in the products that have been handed to customers is currently being disposed mostly after use.
Empty contact lens cases have high value as a material, and we have initiated the "BLUE SEED PROJECT（Love(Eye) the Sea）＊ " in the year 2019 with the goal of achieving material recycling and a circular economy.
This is a user participatory project that collects empty contact lens cases from consumers,
encompassing not only our company's products but also all disposable contact lenses, and recycles them.
The Collected empty contact lens cases are used as reinforcement for logistics pallets, and when these pallets degrade, they are collected, melted and perpetually regenerated into new logistics pallets, achieving "material recycling" and a "circular economy."
In addition, all proceeds from the sale of the empty cases are fully donated to JEAN, an organization that is working to solve marine litter issues, further contributing to environmental improvement.

当社はかねてより本業を通じて社会に貢献したいという思いでコンタクトレンズの製造販売に取り組んでおり、製品はできる限り環境に配慮して製造、そして売上の一部を失明予防や盲導犬育成支援活動へ寄付するなど、製品の機能面ではもちろんのこと、多方面から人々のQOL向上につなげていくことを目指して社会的活動に取り組んでおります。また、持続可能な社会をみなさんと一緒に創りたいとの思いから、SDGsを推進するユーザー参加型の「BLUE SEED PROJECT」では、「シード出前授業」において子供たちに様々なSDGsを知ってもらうための「すごろく」ゲームを実施するなど、活動の幅を広げています。

SEED has been committed to making a positive impact on society through our core business of manufacturing and selling contact lenses. We strive to produce our products with environmental considerations and donate a portion of our sales to support activities such as prevention of blindness and guide dog training. Beyond the functional aspects of our products, we are dedicated to engaging in various social initiatives aimed at enhancing people's quality of life from multiple angles.
Furthermore, from our desire to create a sustainable society together with everyone, we have expanded our range of activities through a user participatory "BLUE SEED PROJECT" promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes activities like "Visiting lectures," where we educate children about various SDGs through a board game.

「BLUE SEED PROJECT」ではワンウェイのリサイクルとならないよう、「マテリアルリサイクル」「サーキュラーエコノミー」を実現できる仕組みを構築し、さらにそのサイクルの中で生じた利益を環境保全団体に寄付することでさらなる環境改善につなげています。このような人々の関わりや活動の広がりが地球環境保全の大きな力、ひいては人々の利益になると考えています。

In order to avoid one-way recycling in the "BLUE SEED PROJECT", we have established a system that can realize "material recycling" and a "circular economy."
