河津七滝 初見滝 - Two of the waterfall

二つの滝
伊豆と言えば海をイメージするが、内陸部は文豪ー川端康成の
伊豆の踊子で知られる天城山周辺一帯は森に囲まれそのイメージ
を一転する光景が見られる。
河津七滝は、静岡県賀茂郡河津町を流れる河津川の、約1.5kmの
間に存在する7つの滝の総称。伊豆半島ジオパークのジオサイト
として指定されている。
七滝は、約2万5000年前に伊豆東部火山群のひとつ「登り尾・
南火山」からの溶岩流が谷に流れ込んでつくり出したもので、
七滝のうち「えび滝」を除く6つの滝には、厚い溶岩が凝固、収縮
してできる柱状節理が見られる。
七つの滝にはそれぞれの個性があり初夏や夏に訪れるとその豊かな
涼感に魅了される。
