GGJ Santiago de Chile, AquaHero by Team Naranja Digital
**Our initial challenge was ¿How do we generate water usage awareness in Chilean teenagers?**
Our Key insights were:
1.188.428 Chilean teenagers. Most of their day at school, most of the day, on cellphone.
Some of them “worry” about climate change and natural resources consciousness, and they act like it in social media because it looks like being cool, but there's no concrete awareness about water usage on a daily basis.
So, one district in Santiago was selected (Las Condes, highest water usage, 939 liters of water per day) A Dot voting was made to choose a solution for awareness, and the team picked a Mobile App.
Specific description of our prototype:
AquaHero is a gamified mobile app to generate water consumption awareness in Chilean teenagers. The app starts with a personalized avatar chosed by the user, and some basic questions about current water consumption habits. Upon that, the app shows a story, challenging the user to improve a current habit, for example, shower timing. The mobile app use the microphone feature to sensing the water sound, starting an inner timing. If the water sound stops before the time is up, the user gets a reward such as points, magic features or personalization. If not, character's life decreases and the challenge would appear again any other day.
A prototype (InVision) was tested with real teenagers, they liked it a lot and ask for more features! such as mini games, armor, win gems, customize avatar, feed avatar, etc.
The App can then reach other goals for the same population, such as 12, 3 and 7.
The Goal number 5 is already considered in our App, as our avatars don't show any genre preference.
