3d light potrait

Light painting, or light drawing, is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera. Light painting can also describe works where the camera itself is moved during exposure. ( wikipidea )

I combined the idea of a light painting with 3d printing. I attached a rgb led to a 3d printer and wrote a script which converted a 3d model to the GCODE for a 3d priner. For the model i used my 3year old daughters face scan.

the 3d printer prints the potrait in space using light instead of plastic and i captured that using a DSLR camera.
