Super Power Rocket

When babies come into the unknown world, everything is surprising for them. To kids, a single broom means an interesting guitar to play; the plastic rubbish bin lid plays the role of protective shield for fighting; and Mom’s washboard is an amazing substitute for surfboard surfing on the balcony! In short, kids’ unlimited imagination totally transform the simplest and easiest stuffs into entirely marvelous treasures. Nonetheless, as years passed by, the broom loses its musical rhyme; the lid becomes powerless to defend; and the washboard can no longer fly. People gradually lose control and things, accordingly, become too practical to be interesting.

When I was little, the rotational light-box hung in barbershop intrigued me a lot. Always thinking about rockets that headed the universe, I pictured vividly myself riding on the “light-box rocket” and knocking wicked aliens to pieces. What’s more, I was the most courageous hero who defeated evil warships with the invincible “light-box artillery rocket“. “BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! WOAH!” The engine functioning sounds triggered by power turbines were all too familiar for a little, eccentric kid like me.

With endless buzzing thoughts inside my head, Super Power Rocket, a super-sized toy integrating my imagination as well as childhood memories, was produced. Designing its function all by myself, I never tried to figure out what the real utility of a rotational light-box on streets was. Anyway, I think there will always be a gap between reality and romance.
