KG projects

K G projects redefines a fashion collection with a seamless digital experience to achieve an immersive and interactive storytelling experience, utilizing augmented reality technology. The goal is to extend fashion designers' expression orbit and enable wearers to constantly stay connected with what they wear.

Fashion design is a relatively confined medium of expression, as elements like sound and movement are challenging to translate through the tactile forms. To resolve the communication that design deserves, KG Projects uses augmented reality to turn clothing into a physical yet digital surface and thus extend the presence of clothing beyond the tangible word. The collection consists 6 looks and an accompanied phone app, which together display sentiments of the designer’s journey to Japan. She developed screenprinting techniques that does not only speak to the aesthetic, but are also optimized to perform as recognizable information, then converted the prints into codes through image recognition technology. Viewers will be immersed in an 4D world as they interact with the collection using the app.

The project starts to explore the possibilities of how an enhanced storytelling experience could benefit the world of fashion. KG projects envisions the future of clothing to be a user-centered creation platform based on the wearer’s current data such as geo-location, emotion, and so on.
