The Pavilion of Continuous Metal Folding

This pavilion is located in front of Dept. of Architecture, Tamkang University, and the purpose of the pavilion is a temporary resting space and landmark. By means of parametric modeling, form-finding and structural analysis, the preliminary design prototype with folded metal as material was generated based on the conditions of the site. The entire pavilion consists of four large oval pieces of metal, each oval consisting of 25 consecutive three-fold metal sheets. The manufacture of continuous metal folding is facilitated by the help of the robotic arm. This experimental pavilion is looking forward to demonstrating the feasibility of combining digital and robotic fabrication.
