杉浦真也は奈良県出身の素材開発を専門とするデザイナーで、科学とデザインの融合に取り組む。北里大学でその分野に興味 を持ち、慶應義塾大学大学院では「ゼロから生み出す素材」をテーマに、環境素材の研究やデザインプロセスの開発を行い、 建築資材としての実用化にも注力した。学生時代から企業のブランディング業務に携わり、新規素材の提案に貢献。国内外の 展示会にも作品を発表し、「科学と芸術の丘」「NEW ENERGY」「Prototypes for Humanity」などで注目を集めた。受賞歴 には「Japan Handmade of The Year 東京都知事賞」「グッドデザイン・ニューホープ賞」などがある。さらに、バクテリア を利用したインクに関する研究で環境負荷の低減を目指し、論文発表や修士論文として体系化。科学とデザインの融合で新し い価値を創出し続けている。
Masaya Sugiura is a designer from Nara Prefecture specializing in material development, dedicated to the fusion of science and design. He developed an interest in this field at Kitasato University and pursued research on “materials created from scratch” at the Graduate School of Media Design at Keio University. His work focused on environmental materials and the development of design processes, with particular emphasis on the practical application of these materials in architectural contexts.
During his student years, he contributed to corporate branding projects, proposing innovative materials, and showcased his works at both domestic and international exhibitions. His projects gained attention at events such as “Science and Art Hill,” “NEW ENERGY,” and “Prototypes for Humanity.”
His accolades include the Tokyo Governor’s Award at Japan Handmade of The Year and the Good Design New Hope Award. Furthermore, his research on bacteria-based inks aimed at reducing environmental impact has been published in academic papers and consolidated into his master’s thesis. Through the continuous fusion of science and design, Sugiura strives to create new value in the field.
