This work was commissioned by an art collector, who asked me to imagine a work for the upcoming birth of his son. I asked him to send me the audio recording of the birth.
This is comparable to a photograph printed in 3D, a unique moment that can never be reproduced. The first seconds of life, embodied by these cries arrival on Earth.
To hear sound print, I did not wish to implement a complicated technology - Laser not necessary, no Arduino or electric motor, a simple QR code designated for the occasion - The code returns a Youtube video accurately show the emplacemlent sound you hear. A simple smartphone is enough to live again this frozen moment in time.
I also added a gift for mother a pendant printed in gold containing the three cries of her baby - a symbol for the mother carrying her son's birth cries on her skin.
This work is in a private collection in Denver (USA), the owner would lend the event of exposure.
