JOY
Concept: “JOY” is the physical 3D representation of the shape of the audio wave of the word “JOY”. The work has been created specifically for the Youfab / Yamaha Creative Awards. It has not been previously shown to the public. The Youfab / Yamaha Creative Awards will be the first time it has ever been displayed.
The sound recording of the word “JOY” was modeled in 3D using Gilles Azzaro’s patented software.
Here, the artist is experimenting with a new approach to the question surrounding the effects of thoughts and emotions provoked by the physical and visual contact with their printed shapes.
The work is experimental:
A notice shall be posted next to the work which, together with describing the work, - explains how visitors can touch and feel the work. The aim being to get ever closer to something that is totally invisible and switch on an emotion through physical contact with it. Visitor reactions will be noted and in theory should reveal many wonderful things.
The idea behind the work is to offer a refined graphic image of this audio wave reflecting everyone’s quest by reducing it to its purest form: for this work the artist preferred not to add the audio recording of the sound so as not to disturb or interfere with the visitor experience who will prefer to call upon their natural instincts when in contact with the emotion that is JOY.
The words are presented in a blue light, representing infinity: Blue is the color of the sky and the ocean, tranquility and peace. Blue is also the color of planet earth, forever loyal and stable. Studies have also shown how blue stimulates productivity and helps the concentration.
Depending on the culture, blue is also associated with patience, freedom, progress and unity.
