“Does a human have to be human?”
Almost unhuman HAOS - Project Unlock Electrical Perception Ver1.0 combines the fields of human-machine interaction, electrical engineering, industrial and material design, visual performance arts, and neuroscience, to attempt using electrical sensing in the oral region as an addition to the Eight Consciousness defined by Buddhist disciplines (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, etc.) and expanding beyond the biological identity of a human. It views the refinement of human cognition as a form of art, sculpting the way the audience perceive the brain with the art of electrical sensing.
This piece will explore the world of electrical sensory art not only questioning if “a human has to be human?” (against the destiny in which human and machine is integrated), but also investigate the structure between organ, cognition, aesthetics, and culture. Using the device developed by Lai Jiun Ting, “compound sensory substitution technology” integrates the human audience and AI through an actuator, activating “electrical vision”, and other non-conventional compound sensory experience using “human sensory enhancer HAOS”, connecting to the world, and sculpting the way the audience perceive electrical sensing. By combining the sensing of the tongue and skin, this implant shows a close connection between AI and humans.
This exhibition invites the audience to become cyborgs (non-invasive, non-implant) by training in steps and enhancing cognition, transcending biological boundaries to the level of superhuman. In Eastern philosophy, expanding the human consciousness is the path to “exceed human”, in contrast to the western “cyborg” view, showing that humans don’t have to be human to be human.
In the performance, audience will use the clues provided byelectrical sensing to detect the information that was previously incomprehensible by humans. “Exceeding human, us human-like non-human” challenges “exceeding reality, human-like non-human deepfake”. Using superhuman and super-realistic imagery, it reveals the essence of a biological human with the contrast of the human brain as a computer, which begs the question “If we are combined with technology, becoming cyborgs, are we not human anymore?”. In conclusion, as long as we were born as human, we must be human. -

Almost unhuman HAOS - Project Unlock Electrical Perception
Discuss "human must be human?" to "human must be human", experimenting with sculptures that enhance human awareness as electrical consciousness.
Combining the fields of human-computer interaction, electrical control engineering, industrial material design, video performance, and neuroscience, use micro-current to liberate the audience's perception ability—electrical perception, challenge the human essence defined by the eight senses of Buddhism, and expand the biological identity of human beings. And regarding the enhancement of human cognition as a kind of perceptual sculpture, sculpt the audience's brain cognition, and do the art of electrical sculpture, experiment with the tongue to watch a show, make Tongue-Vision-Audio Reactive.
This creation will explore the world of electro-perceptual art, in the ambiguous area of the oral cavity-resisting the fate of the integration of human and implanted technology, and further thinking about the structure of organs, electro perception, electro aesthetics, and culture.
