Lasercut Keyboard

音響
The Lasercut Keyboard is an electronic music instrument designed to be easily assembled by children. The electronic circuit can be assembled without the use of solder, by threading the legs of resistors and capacitor through extra plated holes.

The enclosure is fabricated from 2mm thick Kraftliner card and MDF. The key mechanism is tensioned by using a rubber band. The ubiquitous 555 timer generates square waves which can be modulated by flicking the small DIP switch built into the unit. While it certainly doesn't sound pretty it's a fun little instrument that gives a good overview of how materials can be put together and how sound mechanism work. And it's quite playable!
