ゆうたには両親が居らず、祖父と祖父の行灯作りを見て育ってきた。しかし突然、祖父は病によって亡くなり、ゆうたはひとりぼっちになる。ゆうたは祖父が亡くなったことを受け入れられず自分が上手に行灯を作れば、祖父が帰ってきて褒めてくれるのではと思い込み、行灯を作り続ける。行灯作りにくじけそうになったゆうたが窓の外を見上げると、そこにはいつもと違う景色が。あわてて外に出るとそこには幻想的な世界が広がっていた。
