Design that reinvents the image of “camel fabric” is commercialized Announcement of 10,000 Creator Meets PASS THE BATON Vol.3
Project vol.3 of “10,000 creators meets PASS THE BATON”, which recruited design ideas for new products using the material of “cold” in winter underwear, provided by fashion brand “ steteco.com ” " 33 applications were submitted for the difficult task of making use of the good heat-retaining properties and feel of “camel fabric” while overcoming the traditional image of “dasai” and “old”. This time, as a result of the examination, it was decided that one design would proceed to commercialization.
Furthermore, in addition to the publicly submitted entries, this time it will be decided to commercialize ideas created from a collaboration workshop between the Taiwan Design Center and “10,000 Creator Meets PASS THE BATON” held in June. Please see here.
Selected work
Wolf.project "RECYCLED RAKUDA FABRIC ROOM RELAX SET"
concept
Take advantage of the characteristics of camel fabric to create a new relaxing style.
A set of cushions with blankets and MONPE, which was used as mobile work clothes. I suggest that there is such a set in a hotel where merchants who traveled long distances with camels can stay. With this alone, as a visitor set, as a cushion for yourself, as a cushion, the remaining cover part will be used as a functional item that can be easily used as a cover for the existing cushion.
Comment
The idea that a blanket is inside the cushion is interesting. There are various colors for the end pieces, so it seems to be a slightly different product one by one. However, “Monpe” may not be necessary. (Smiles Toyama)
We make good use of the shape and special products of mill ends. For example, if you put it in a car or take it when you go camping, it will be convenient and cute. (Loftwork Hayashi)
New products created from workshops by creators of Japan and Taiwan to commercialize
This time, in addition to the publicly submitted entries, a prototype (prototype) born from a workshop hosted by the Taiwan Design Center in June was also examined for commercialization.
A joint workshop between Japanese and Taiwanese designers realized through a collaboration between the Taiwan Design Center and “10,000 creators meets PASS THE BATON”. A team of four Taiwanese and Japanese designers who met for the first time on the spot in a method called `` Make-a-thon '', in which members concentrate to create new products within a limited time. We challenged prototyping from design examination on the same problem as open call for participants.
Of the five teams that participated in the workshop this time, the Camel team had a high level of prototype completion, so commercialization was decided. > Workshop report

Work description
Because of the strong image of crotch, the fabric tends to be hated by young people. However, it is said that the aim was to improve the image of camel fabric itself, focusing on the color beauty and softness of the fabric itself. A story was added to the background of the product, and the world view was built.
I made a simple and stylish stall that took advantage of the shape of the tubular extra cloth. Eight colors of fabric are expressed in contrasting combinations such as “desert and sky” and “male and female”. Trace the product story of “a couple of camels traveling from Africa to Tokyo, and present her hair scarf to her in winter” in a package that camels are a scarf. The label is inspired by a traditional African textile pattern and includes the brand name “Couple Camel”.
Assuming a price range that can be given as a casual gift, with a catchphrase of "From a camel, from a peanut, from a plow, to a gift."
Comment
A product that demonstrates the power of concept and graphics. It was an appropriate output for “10,000 creators meets PASS THE BATON”. (Smiles Toyama)
I think that I was able to solve the puzzle, which is important when thinking about recycled products, "What if I add only one creative and how?" This is the item that I wanted to present to somebody among the works so far. (Loftwork Hayashi)
It's surprisingly cute when you wear it. I think that it is wonderful that I can land properly without being caught by the image of that “camel underwear”. (Kigi Uehara)
I think that the attractiveness is conveyed by the combination of graphics where it is too much “just as it is”. In the actual commercialization process, there were some areas that needed improvement, but I believe in the completion. (Kigi Watanabe)
steteco.com Award
A special award “steteco.com Award” will be given by steteco.com to those that have missed commercialization and have a particularly unique viewpoint. The prizes are peaches of your favorite pattern from the steteco.com silk mixed series.
urotanke "Summer camel"
concept
The main concept is that camel dough is warm and useful in winter, but I want to use it in summer too. Winter is cold and summer is hot. Against such a natural environment, with the widespread use of cooling equipment, high temperatures in urban areas are inevitable. At the same time, power saving and eco-boom are combined, and the situation continues. In recent years, smart grids and in-house power generation have been attracting attention, and I would like to propose the ultimate personal air-conditioning system: “Carrying a cool fashionable thing”. These types of cold goods are not so nicely made and do not leave the camp or children's territory. If this is fashionable and women can hesitate, and if they can be integrated into their daily commute, the world will be a little better.
steteco.com Comment from Takemura
Originally, “camel” is a heat-resistant animal, so the idea of reversing “use it cool in summer” was unique and was the decisive factor in the award.
