We will hold a workshop on graphically describing the experience of theater at the last rehearsal of "Pratthana".

We are accepting applications for participation in a graphic recording workshop of the dress rehearsal (the last rehearsal, which is performed onstage just like the main performances) of the theater production "Pratthana: A portrait of possession" on June 26th at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre.
After a workshop in advance at the school to understand the flow on the day of the dress rehearsal, we will then do the graphic recording of the actual theater performance during the dress rehearsal, and finally hold an exhibition of our works.
If you love painting pictures, then we eagerly await your application. Graphic recording first-timers are also welcome!

【Mentor】 Message from the mentor： I believe that as yet there exists no method of recording or reproducing the experience of theater. The flow of the mood and emotions in the theater hall, the change in the interaction between the audience and the performers - these might be unknown elements that cannot be contained in any storage medium no matter what technology is used. At this workshop, we will attempt to use the method of graphic recording to document the experience of theater. Right now, I do not know yet what we will be able to record, but I feel like we will see the traces of this theater experience spread out before our eyes in a way never seen before. Let us engage in this recording experiment with our minds and souls.

Graphic recorder
Design researcher / graphic recorder / lecturer at the Tama Art University, Department of Information Design. After graduating from the Information Design Department at Tama Art University in 2009, she was involved in business design, a project to produce cross-sectional business across genres. In 2013, she began her activities as a graphic recorder to visualize discussions in real time. She completed her research about the origin and meaning of visualization of discussions at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts. Her publications include "Graphic recorder - a textbook for graphic recording to visualize discussions" (BNN, Inc.).

STEP 01
Participate in the "Pratthana" school
[School 1] WS Facilitation Lecture
We will hold two school events. Participation at the "school 2" event is mandatory. After participating in either only the "school 2" or in both events, you can apply for the "Theater graphic recording workshop" at the dress rehearsal. -
STEP 02
Apply for the "Theater graphic recording workshop" at the dress rehearsal
We will send an AWRD application form to the participants of the school event. After filling in the necessary information, please apply until June 8th (Sa).

STEP 03
Screening / announcement of results
Places for participants of the "Theater graphic recording workshop" at the theater are limited. If there are more applications than places, we will conduct a screening and announce the results until June 17th (Mo).

STEP 04
Participation in the "Theater graphic recording workshop"
The "Theater graphic recording workshop" will be held on June 26th (Th) during the dress rehearsal of "Pratthana". After the performance, there will be an exhibition of all works.
※ Because the participants will be sitting in the actual theater audience seats, it is not allowed to use water or art supplies that could spill (paints, sprays, etc.).
