Detailed explanation of the submitted project or idea (in English or both English and your language)
The essence of the Movchun collection is rooted in its commitment to ecological integrity and the use of 100% natural materials. Each piece is crafted with a unique layering of sustainable, thoughtfully chosen components that reflect a careful balance between design and environmental responsibility.
At its core, the chair's frame is constructed from high-quality organic paper fiber, a fully recycled material that is environmentally safe. This base is then enveloped in Victoria Yakusha’s signature material, ZTISTA—a blend of cellulose, clay, flax fiber, wood chips, and biopolymer. Created with a focus on circular, sustainable design, ZTISTA reflects Yakusha’s reimagined approach to eco-conscious materials, designed to bring the user closer to nature. By integrating these organic elements, the Movchun armchair embodies Yakusha's commitment to an innovative, responsible design ethos.
The soft filler, made from hévea latex, complements the chair’s natural aesthetic and ecological focus. Hévea latex, a material derived from wood, reinforces the sense of connection to the natural world, lending both comfort and a deeper sense of harmony with the environment.
Through its special material composition and Yakusha's live minimalism philosophy, the Movchun armchair is more than just a seat—it’s an experience that bridges the elegance of handcrafted design with the principles of sustainable craftsmanship. This thoughtful combination of materials allows each piece to carry the story of nature’s beauty while providing comfort and grounding for daily life. The result is a timeless piece that resonates with a quiet but profound connection to the natural world, underscoring Yakusha's vision for mindful, enduring design -
How does your work address the 3 P’s (for Planet, for People, for Profit) for Sustainability?
The MOVCHUN collection embodies a commitment to sustainable design, crafted from eco-friendly, natural materials that highlight simplicity and a circular approach. At the core of each piece is a frame built from high-quality, recycled paper fiber—both durable and environmentally safe. This base is coated with ZTISTA, a signature material developed by Ukrainian designer Victoria Yakusha. Composed of cellulose, clay, flax fiber, wood chips, and a biopolymer, ZTISTA underscores MOVCHUN's sustainable ethos, bringing nature-inspired textures into every creation.
A soft latex layer made from hévea wood adds comfort to the structure. Hévea, with its natural antiseptic properties, maintains these health benefits throughout the processing, reducing the risk of allergies and respiratory issues. This layer also resists dust, enhancing MOVCHUN’s hypoallergenic quality.
The final touch is a choice of upholstery fabric. Customers can select between two options: a 100% natural hemp fabric or a cotton textile derived from recycled t-shirts. Each fabric choice aligns with MOVCHUN’s environmentally conscious focus and offers a timeless aesthetic.
The MOVCHUN armchair is particularly timeless due to its blend of premium, eco-conscious materials and innovative design. Each piece is crafted for durability and adaptability, featuring a modular design that allows for easy assembly and disassembly. This convenience makes it suitable for transportation and adaptable to various spaces. The components are also replaceable, ensuring longevity and versatility as needs change over time.
By combining high-quality, eco-conscious materials with practical functionality, the MOVCHUN armchair stands as a timeless design that aligns with sustainable values and high standards in craftsmanship -

Special Prize Question 1: "Empowering nature to create a new loop”: How does your work strengthen or support nature’s ability to capture and convert waste into valuable resources? How does your work advance industry practices by introducing nature-positive alternatives?
The MOVCHUN chair exemplifies a commitment to strengthening nature’s capacity to transform waste into valuable resources through its innovative use of 100% natural and ecological materials. By utilizing recycled paper fiber for the frame, the design not only minimizes waste but also promotes the recycling industry, demonstrating how discarded materials can be repurposed into high-quality products.
The ZTISTA material, developed by Victoria Yakusha, further enhances this approach by incorporating a blend of cellulose, clay, flax fiber, wood chips, and a biopolymer. This material reimagines sustainable design through a circular economy model, emphasizing the importance of using organic materials that can be regenerated. By selecting natural resources that integrate seamlessly with the environment, it encourages other industries to adopt similar practices, showcasing that sustainability can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Additionally, the soft filler made from hévea latex not only provides comfort but also reinforces a nature-positive ethos. Hévea wood’s natural antiseptic properties reduce the reliance on chemical treatments, aligning with health-conscious design while minimizing environmental impact. The choice of upholstery fabric, which includes 100% natural hemp and cotton from recycled t-shirts, emphasizes the value of reusing existing materials, promoting a shift towards more sustainable sourcing in the textile industry.
By advancing industry practices with these nature-positive alternatives, the MOVCHUN armchair serves as a model for other designers and manufacturers. It illustrates how embracing sustainable materials and practices can lead to innovative products that honor and empower nature's cycles, ultimately fostering a new loop where waste is transformed into valuable resources. This holistic approach not only benefits the environment but also encourages a broader cultural shift towards sustainability in design and manufacturing -
Special Prize Question 2: “Regenerating ecosystems”: In what inspiring ways does your work contribute to the restoration and stabilization of natural ecosystems?
The ZTISTA material and the concept of live minimalism play integral roles in contributing to the regeneration and stabilization of natural ecosystems. ZTISTA is a pioneering blend of cellulose, clay, flax fiber, wood chips, and biopolymer, crafted with a focus on sustainability and ecological harmony. By utilizing these natural and locally sourced ingredients, ZTISTA reduces dependence on synthetic materials and promotes a healthier environment
The live minimalism philosophy, emphasizing handcrafted techniques and traditional methods, further enhances this commitment. By working with local artisans and employing age-old practices, the MOVCHUN armchair fosters a deeper connection to the land and its resources. This approach not only preserves cultural heritage but also supports local economies and ecosystems by minimizing the carbon footprint associated with transportation and industrial production.
Moreover, the components used in ZTISTA are biodegradable and promote a circular economy, allowing for the natural breakdown and return of resources to the earth. This regenerative cycle helps restore soil health and biodiversity, contributing to the stabilization of ecosystems. The integration of such sustainable materials into everyday products encourages consumers to adopt eco-friendly practices and fosters a collective responsibility towards the environment.
Prioritizing the use of local, handcrafted materials and techniques, the MOVCHUN armchair not only inspires a shift in design philosophy but also actively contributes to the restoration and stabilization of natural ecosystems. This commitment to sustainability and local craftsmanship illustrates a path forward, demonstrating how design can harmonize with nature and play a vital role in ecological regeneration. -
Special Prize Question 3: “Education and storytelling”: How does your work make complex bioeconomy concepts accessible and engaging?

MOVCHUN armchair
The MOVCHUN collection by FAINA by Victoria Yakusha reveals the interaction between human beings and nature through contemplation. MOVCHUN is derived from Ukrainian ‘keep silence’. Silence is what slows you down to feel the connection between You and the Earth to keep you grounded with their heavy shapes.
When you are near MOVCHUN, you are not in a hurry anymore - all you can do is to enjoy live minimalism contemplation. Minimalism of your thoughts as a right way to your inner World.
