Wormy Planty is a campus planting recycling device that uses waste paper and food waste to raise earthworms. Students can manually shred waste paper and mix it with food waste and put it into the earthworm tanks, so that the earthworms produce composted soil and urine, which can then be shovelled into the planting area for composting and vegetable planting, thus achieving the goal of recycling and reusing food in a sustainable way.

How does your work address the 3 P’s (for Planet, for People, for Profit) for Sustainability?
By kindly collecting waste paper and food waste and using vermicomposting worms to grow edible vegetables, the stalks and paper containers can be thrown back into the installation and composted by the worms again, thus creating a cycle of sustainability.

Wormy Planty uses the composting ability of red earthworms to turn food waste and waste paper into nutritious compost, making the soil healthier and the finished vegetables edible, as well as plants to freshen up the air and reduce carbon dioxide, and uneaten food can be thrown back into the worm bin to be composted again, making a green cycle.

Wormy Planty is a school planting recycling device that utilizes waste paper and food waste to raise earthworms. It allows elementary school children to shred waste paper and mix it with lunch food waste, then put it into the earthworm feeding tank inside the device to produce composted soil, which can then be shoveled into the planting area for use, and the planted vegetables can be used to add fresh vegetables to their lunch. The removable planting layer allows children to take it outdoors to their school gardens, and the Wormy Planty not only allows children to experience the process of raising, composting, and planting, but also reduces the problem of food waste and increases the value of waste paper.
