Detailed explanation of the submitted project or idea (in English or both English and your language)
Satelli is one of SARNSARD STUDIO's design concepts, 'breathing new life into age-old skill' that mixes complexity and simplicity. The link between relationships and shared experiences among skilled artisans, such as handcraft speakers, carpenters, blacksmiths, and wickerworkers. It especially depicts the connection between a traditional weaving pattern by a local craftsman and a new style of graphic weaving pattern developed by the designer. As a result, each of the works is attached to exclusive stories, and it is also here to introduce and maintain important legacy through our products as a cultural heritage asset.

How does your work address the 3 P’s (for Planet, for People, for Profit) for Sustainability?
Even though we are a small business, we have prioritized and focused on sustainable living since we started developing the SARNSARD brand. We think that we are all living on the same planet. We, as individuals, may make changes that will have an impact on everything in our life, leaving no one behind.
More than one year, we have a new generation of artisans to join to be a part of our team for developing this wisdom together. We notice not just satisfaction in their faces and feelings, but also the wealth graph of each artisan's family. For example, they can cover their children's tuition. They can construct their own residence. They are not in debt to loan sharks, but they have saved money for the future. Besides, earnings will be used for research and development, as well as productivity improvements.
We also care about people's and the environment's health, so we decided to switch from chemical dye color to non-toxic dye color approved by the UK and certified. It contributes to less pollution and shorter production times. We intend to not only pass on our knowledge to future generations, but we also value stuff. Normally, the plants die on their own; however, the artisan will prune and notch the plants to encourage new, attractive growth. -

Special Prize Question 1: "Empowering nature to create a new loop”: How does your work strengthen or support nature’s ability to capture and convert waste into valuable resources? How does your work advance industry practices by introducing nature-positive alternatives?
It does not only generate natural waste, but it also preserves local wisdom by demonstrating how to work and bringing them up to date in terms of creativity and design. The natural resource will grow in a sustainable way known as 'Pa-nan pandanus'. There are two forms of growth along the shore: tree growth and grass growth. SARNSARD harvests only on the ground, using circulatory methods. We also use old techniques to make the fiber, as well as innovative technology, to preserve the environment and allow the fiber to organically express its qualities. For example, it has plant oil on the fiber surface, which protects insects and fungi while also providing a long lift time after soaking in water.

Special Prize Question 2: “Regenerating ecosystems”: In what inspiring ways does your work contribute to the restoration and stabilization of natural ecosystems?
It should begin with human thinking, thus SARNSARD is not only planning to pass on our knowledge to future generations, but we are also prioritizing material. Normally, the Pa-nan pandanus dies on its own; nevertheless, the artisan prunes and notches the plants to encourage fresh, attractive growth. On the other hand, we always update and have a conference to explain the proper methods of harvesting them. Anyway, our artisan families have partitioned their lands to form Pa-nan pandanus plantations.
Furthermore, we have a limit on the number of projects we can take in our workflow, so we are already planning work throughout the year to make one-of-a-kind pieces for our clients. -
Special Prize Question 3: “Education and storytelling”: How does your work make complex bioeconomy concepts accessible and engaging?
The positive side of organizing work over the length of a year is we can harvest the plants for as long as we need them and can simply choose the type of plant, such as old or young leaves, for that task.
Furthermore, every piece of work produces trash, the majority of which originates from the edge of the weaving sheet. The fiber is excellent in that area. We separated it into two parts to make better use of it. The first portion is converted into leather or paper by combining it with additional materials such as cocoa shells and mulberry tree bark to create a varied texture for use. Nowadays, we use it for the packing process.
Traditionally, artisans throw the middle fiber of the weaving sheet as waste, but we intend to bring it back by creating an approach to cut the fiber. We can observe that it produces a stronger fiber than other portions and has a different texture as well. We upcycled by using it in several of our projects.
