RESORACLE ─ Heartbeat Verification System ─
人間の「存在のあり方」は、テクノロジーの進化とともに急速な変容を遂げてきた。
VR元年とされる2016年に世界初のバーチャルYouTuberキズナアイがデビュー。それまでデジタル空間における「現実の自分の分身」であったアバターではない「独立した新たな存在」の登場は「中の人」という概念すら曖昧にした。続く2018年にはVRChatに代表される没入型プラットフォームが台頭。バ美肉から獣人まで自由な姿での没入感の高い交流は、時に現実空間での出会い以上の親密さをもたらすなどした。さらに2020年に起きた世界的パンデミックは、それまでサブカルチャー的であったデジタルな存在を、誰もが経験する「現実」へと急速に引き込んだ。オンライン会議・授業、リモート飲み会や無観客ライブ—慣習化したスクリーンの向こう側にいる誰かとの対峙は、デジタル空間における存在を「特別な自己」から「もう一つの日常的な自己」へと変容させたのだ。
WHOがパンデミックの終息宣言を出した翌月にAppleは「空間コンピューティングデバイス」としてVision Proを発表し、翌年の2024年には世界８カ国で発売が開始された。Vision Proの「空間ペルソナ」によって生成されるアバターは、従来のキャラクター的姿であったアバターとは一線を画し、装着者の表情や目線、物理的位置までもがリアルタイムに反映され、驚くほど自然な「自分そのもの」として空間に立ち現れるのだ。SharePlay機能を通じて他のペルソナと共有される空間は、VRChatのような仮想空間とは言い切れない。それぞれ物理的な距離を保ちながら同じスクリーンで映画を観たり、3Dオブジェクトを囲んでディスカッションしたりと、自然な形で存在を重ね合わせる。この体験はデジタルともリアルとも表現しきれない、かつてない空間と存在のあり方を示唆していると言えよう。

本作品RESORACLEは、この問いに対する一つの応答として生まれた。「共鳴/想起」を意味する"Resonance"と、「神託/啓示」を意味する"Oracle"を組み合わせ命名されたRESORACLEは、心音という人間の生命活動に不可欠な生体音を用いて、「存在の確かさ」を感じ取るためのシステムである。その仕組みは以下の通りだ。
まず、心音を取り込んでデータ化する専用アプリとVision ProをOSC通信によって接続する。すると心音は「RESONITE(レゾナイト、存在の結晶)」という脈動する赤い粒子として可視化され、自分の空間に放たれる。システムに格納された心音はファイルとして保存でき、指定のiCloudドライブ（もしくはGoogleドライブ）にアップロードすることで、システムを利用する不特定多数の他者と共有できる。また、ドライブにアップされている、顔も知らない誰かのいつかの心音を、ダウンロードしてシステムに取り込み、同じように存在を可視化することができる。RESORACLEはVision Proが提示する「空間コンピューティング」ならではの極めて個人的な存在確認のための装置と言える。

In the month following WHO's declaration of the end of the pandemic, Apple Inc. announced Vision Pro as a "Spatial Computing" device, which was subsequently released in eight countries in 2024. The avatars generated by Vision Pro's "Spatial Persona" stand distinct from conventional character-like avatars, as they reflect the wearer's expressions, gaze, and physical position in real-time, appearing as remarkably natural "representations of self" in space. The spaces shared through SharePlay functionality cannot simply be described as virtual spaces like VRChat. While maintaining physical distance, users can naturally overlay their existence as they watch movies on the same screen or engage in discussions around 3D objects. Using heartbeat—a vital sound essential to human life—RESORACLE is a system designed to verify the certainty of existence. The system works as follows:
First, a dedicated app that captures and digitalizes heartbeats is connected to Vision Pro via OSC communication. The heartbeat is then visualized as pulsating red particles called "RESONITE (crystals of existence)" that are released into one's space. Heartbeats stored in the system can be saved as files and uploaded to a designated iCloud Drive (or Google Drive), enabling sharing with unspecified others who use the system. Additionally, users can download and incorporate into the system the heartbeats of unknown individuals from some moment in time that have been uploaded to the drive, visualizing their existence in the same way. RESORACLE can be described as a highly personal device for confirming existence, uniquely enabled by Vision Pro's "Spatial Computing."
A heartbeat, when recorded as sound, becomes both an instantaneous and definitive proof of "life." At the same time, it serves as proof of future existence. The fact that the heart is beating indicates an expected survival of at least three minutes, barring sudden or immediate death.
