Children believe in superheroes. They believe that good guys and bad guys exist and that you can tell them apart by the uniforms they wear and the crowd they hang out with. In their world, good guys always win and bad guys always lose. When we see them acting out their superhero fantasies, they take on the expanded personalities of their heroes. To the watchers, they seem so frail and fragile, acting out a lost time in our own lives that can never be regained. A forgotten stage when we believed in ‘good’ and ‘right’, when all you needed to make the darkness fade was to turn on the light.
