GGJ Santiago de Chile, TeAppaño, by Team Metablue

***Te Appaño,
an app to encourage kindness and collective action for helping homeless people living in Santiago***

"Apañar" = chilean word for "warm support".
"Te apaño" is a common way to say "I'm with you on this".

*Initial challenge:
¿How to encourage awareness and action for helping homeless people living in Santiago streets?

*Key insights:
20,000 people living as homeless in Chile. 47% lives in Santiago streets. 18% are illiterate.
Chilean people has a big solidarity spirit, but when asking about homeless people, there's a lack of information about this reality.
Most people interested in doing charity are around 31 yrs / old
Most adult people have volunteered for charities before.
Nevertheless, there's a lack of tools to create community and/or act together to face this issue.

*Specific description of your prototype:
Te Appaño is a solidarity-community app, to make visible and organize community-supported events to help homeless people in Santiago.
Its free so enyone can download and use it, with a previous registration to allow the app have basic data about users, in order to make good matchs for activities according preferences and geolocation.
With TeAppaño, the user can:
-Call people with social awareness to participate in charity events
-Report homeless people location in real time
-Create social-assistance events
-Build alliances between volunteers and restaurants that want to donate their surplus food.

The prototype was tested with adults from the city of Santiago and was very successful!

We hope to have the opportinity to implement this initiative in order to connect with local shelters and Districts to create a local community of awareness and human kindness.
