Smart Tangram
Smart Tangram is an augmented tangram puzzle. It consists of seven shapes that react to a corresponding mobile application. Using Bluetooth Low Energy, users can color figures, set brightness and enable sensors to expand the traditional tangram experience.
The traditional tangram is a puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape (given only an outline or silhouette) using all seven pieces, which may not overlap. The Smart Tangram is a similar puzzle set in which shapes are bluetooth low-energy enabled and therefore can listen to rules set in a mobile application. They can communicate with the phone to change the light output (color and brightness) and have sensors enabled (tilt and proximity).
Each Smart Tangram piece was made out of wood and frosted acrylic.The circuit was printed in a custom board and contains an RFduino (nrf51822 chip), tilt sensors, WS2812 RGB LEDs and a battery charger. The mobile application is built with Cordova using Ionic framework and BLE-central plugin.
