Sheri DigiFab Thesis Collection Look 2
This is the second look in my digital fabrication thesis collection. The collection aims to transform the shell of creatures to clothes/second skin of human beings. I study the morphology of the nature creatures and mimic the pattern, shapes and transparence by using parametric techniques to create iteration. Considering clothes as the second skin as Foraminifera producing a shell by itself, I achieve the surfacing of growing and deteriorating on the garments. A metamorphosing starts to transform human beings through the reinvented nature. For the second look, I also create 3D modeling in Rhino and mill the patterns by CNC, which is similar process as the first look's, and then do the molding and casting process for the textiles. CNC milling, 3D printing and laser cutting as the tools to fabricate the collection. I choose the non-toxic and skin-applicable silicon for the material. The distinguished for both garments are not 3D printed textile but flexible casting, which has great potential to drape around human body and combine with garment-making process.
