Recruitment overview

Design rules:

● Create a design image using the specified format (JPEG, PDF) .

● All slippers use undyed Nume leather .

● Regarding the theme of the design, please make the content relevant to one of the following: " A. Travel scene ", " B. Daily discovery ", and " C. Thought for important person ".

-Graphics, illustrations, and photos can be printed in full color on the instep and bottom of the slippers.

● Letters and line drawings can be imprinted (engraved) with a laser.

● The shape of the instep and bottom of the base slippers can be modified.

-You can also use handicraft parts such as races, buttons, and studs.

About application

What you need to apply:

1. Design image A single image that combines the design of the development of the upper and sole leather with the sketch of the entire slipper. Please freely process the format (JPEG, PDF) when creating. You can also make your own sketch. File format: JPEG format, A3 size / resolution 200dpi / RGB mode / within 10MB

2. Title and introduction text (text) Please give a title to your work. There is no limit to the number of characters in the introduction.

Application conditions:

* Up to 5 works per person can be submitted. * If you receive the award, you will participate and cooperate in the "Leather Slipper Production and Exhibition Program" of this project that will be held after mid-July. (You can also participate in remote locations.) * Applicants must update their site profile information and e-mail address.

About prize slippers:

-The leather slipper creation kit will be sent with a set of laser, printed leather, sewing needle and sewing thread. (Please provide full-size data for processing when the award is notified from the secretariat)

● From the sewing of the slipper to the completion, you will experience it with the winner's own hands.

● Please be sure to give one of the two gifts to your "important person".

● If you use handicraft parts (races, buttons, eyelets, studs, etc.), you will need to prepare yourself.

Judging

The selector selects works based on the output of the submitted work in A4 size, 200 dpi.

Naoki Fujimoto / Naoki Fujimoto (KULUSKA) From school days, studied clothing and leather (leather) techniques and worked on fashion shows and stage costumes. After thinking about how to co-create things, he met FabLab and participated in many projects that make use of the good points of digital and craft.

Aya Fujimoto (KULUSKA) Enter the world of manufacturing through advertising, music, apparel, and the IT industry. Aiming at narrative design and product development, he wants to realize a supple and strong (resilience) style in manufacturing, and is creating designs rooted in the community. He is also active as a designer, director and writer.

Kotaro Iwaoka / Kotaro Iwaoka (FabCafe LLP Fab Director) After graduating from Chiba University, joined the architectural design office and was in charge of designing individual and apartment houses. After that, he entered Keio University Graduate School and engaged in research and production of digital manufacturing. In 2011, he joined Loftwork with the “FabCafe” concept. As a director at FabCafe, he is in charge of services and planning to form creative ideas.

Sonoka Sagara (FabCafe LLP Chief Crew) Graduated from Osaka University of Arts. Engaged in design since childhood, majoring in graphic design at university. He joined Loftwork to run FabCafe, designing the website and decorations for FabCafe, and planning and running workshops on digital fabrication.

Judging criteria:

1. Make use of the characteristics of the base design and material of the slippers. 2. Affinity with themes and keywords. 3. Slippers must be comfortable and have an aesthetic design.

Presentation method:

・ The winners will be notified by e-mail directly. -As an alternative to the above, the winning works will be announced on this site.

Schedule

May 8-June 17 ... Call for works

May 28 … Meet Up Event @FabCafe Tokyo and KULUSKA will have a talk and you will be able to touch the real slippers.

Around the end of June ... Judging Committee

Early July … The results announcement and editorial department will notify the winners of the award by e-mail.・ The winners will be required to provide high resolution data of their work.

From mid-July to mid-August ... Production period-FabCafe will print the work on the parts and send it.・ The winners will assemble, customize, etc. with their own hands.

From late August to September (planned) … Exhibition events & workshops will be held. The completed items will be returned to FabCafe for display.
