RISO Lovers MAKEATHON vol. 02, [Photography] to Riso Lovers across the globe

A makeathon with the goal of pursuing techniques that utilize the risograph printing method! A trend has been building up secretly in small riso studios across the world. This is for everyone who loves the Risograph.

About the talk event

We will welcome photographer Yuri Manabe, who has just held a solo exhibition of lithographically printed photographs and who will speak about the attraction of lithographic printing and the process that goes into producing his works, among other things.

A discussion on overseas lithographic studios will also be held by lecturers and guests who visited lithographic studios in Germany, Korea and Taiwan.

We will hear about their visits whilst looking at the books of lithographic works and photo collections they brought back with them.(Participation free)

Yuri Manabe/Visual artist

Based in Tokyo and Berlin

Yuri mainly uses photography as her medium. She started with monochrome negative development and has recently shifted her interest to risograph printing.

In her work, she reflects on image production within its cultural contexts. She especially focuses on the dynamics of recognition and the culture of perception as her theme.

Began his career has a freelance write/editor for a music magazine. Later publishes the indie magazine (Sweet Dreams) with Norio Fukuda, operates the "compare notes" record label that produced artists such as Kazumi Nikaido and Shugo Tokumaru, and invites foreign artists to Japan. In December 2007, opens the meat and fish-free vegetarian restaurant "Nagi Shokudo". In 2016, he opens a second location in Musashi-Koyama. In February 2018, he opens the open DIY Risograph studio "HandSawPress". He also has credits for writing "Nagi Shokudo's Vegetable Recipes" and "Vegetable Kakuuchi Nagi Shokudo's Veggie Snacks".http://handsawpress.com
