All is Fair

All is Fair is a game about the danger of misinformation, gossip, and rumors.

We are using play as a means to teach young girls about bullying. Red and blue glasses made of plexiglass allow the players see different information on the screen. The blue glasses hide the blue text, and the red glasses hide the red text.

The premise of the game is that four of the most popular girls in school have been called down to the Principal’s office to discuss the note that was left on Zoe’s locker. Each player is one of these four girls. To not get expelled they have to use rumors to pin the blame on someone else and convince the others to believe their side of the story.

The glasses are essential to the game because they ensure that each player gets different pieces of the rumors, and thus are blaming the other players based on missing or false information. This recreates how rumors really start in schools and thus lets young girls explore the dangers of bullying and gossip in a safe environment.
