Mercury’s Boots: Extending Visual Information and Enabling to Move around a Remote Place for VR Avatar

Due to the pandemic of the COVID-19, the world has drastically changed and we human had to accept new lifestyle.
We have to reduce going out or meeting our frends, stay at home as possible, wear a mask and wash our hands for suppressing the risk of infection with the COVID-19.
By the way, under today’s widespread of communication devices and networking infrastructure in the world we receives tremendous benefits of information and network technology.
Development of the VR and network technology have provided new experiences and interactions like remote communication such as email, live chat or video conference, multiplayers online game, or even VR communication platform.
In this year, especially from March, demand to those application and contents rapidly increased and spend their time with joy.
Under these unprecedented circumstance, VR contents have continued to attract more and more attention, but still there are few application created to combine VR and the real.
Later we can restore our ordinary lifestyle before coming the pandemic of the COVID-19, even it will take long time to calm down, we think it's possible that a world connecting digital to physical may come and merging them into one in the end.
We have researched bidirectional interaction between VR and the real, hence we attempt to develop a system to connect the VR world to the real.

Our mobile telepresence robot enables a VR player (avatar) to move around and make a communication in the real world.

The posture of the VR character in the application and our mobile robot synchronizes.

VR player can see truly 3D models in the real world in front of our robot.
