In my art practice, I combine robotic machines with organic-shape materials. I have always been making and programming robotic arms and working with flexible materials like elastic-plastic or liquid paint. Initially, it is the accuracy of robotic movements and the texture of accumulated thick paint that attracts me. Through study, I realise that I would love to recreate the moment where precision meets uncertainty and let them negotiate. How would people make decisions and respond to unexpected situations? Through art, I would like to reconsider what absolute accuracy is.

Hua Zhang was born and raised in Beijing, China, currently based in Beijing and London. He received the bachelor degree of Art in China Central Academy of Fine Art (Print) in 2015, and master degree of Art in Royal College of Art (Information Experience Design) in 2018.
