Please describe the concept of your artwork in 1000 words.
Contact-less is an exhibition where participants enter one at a time while wearing a bluetooth headset. The audio plays ambient sound clips of people talking in a coffee shop, crowds gathering, people moving around them. As they move through a long corridor, they trigger the projection of video footage of people moving in crowded spaces, holding hands, hugging, getting close to other humans but strangers and loved ones. As the participant moves through the hall the audio-scape intensifies as if they are approaching a crowd at the end of the exhibit. At the end you reach a small room, alone. One wall is made of plexiglass and looks into the other rooms of fellow participants.
I wanted the experience to allow the viewer to recall memories of being apart of crowded spaces, to reclaim that as part of their identity. My aim is that they leave holding on to hope that we will once again be part of crowds, part of the whole. -

Work Specification
The exhibition is constructed of plywood and plexiglass. The ideal location would be a large warehouse or gallery but could also be a pop-up exhibition in an open space such as a park. Bluetooth headsets are used along with projectors that are linked to code uploaded on Arduino boards and triggers.
