Please describe the concept of your artwork in 1000 words.
Happiness is one of our most subjective concepts. Its general definition or its measurement was almost impossible, till this time. The digitalization process and the intensifying online presence made the concepts and activities regarding happiness measurable. This sum of our digital footprints is known as the “Big Data”. Filtering it means a difficult and an expensive challenge; only worth knowing much about those who consume. Those, who not only want to purchase products, but lifestyle as well. They are the winners of the target segment. With this project I am willing to help them to reach happiness.
Happiness Manual is a collection of instructions that shows you what and how will make you happy. You can use it in every situation, it presents you the components and the ways of realization based on opinions of real people. It’s simple like an IKEA manual. You can mix the components to create your own brand new version.
The prototype of the Manual is based on users comments on a 2006 BBC online research.
The first version of the Happiness Manual was developed and published in 2013 and it was extended with an Unhappiness Manual in 2015. The Big Data, the technology of surveillance and tracking has changed a lot since the last 7 years, just like the way people think about this.
Did the core concepts, processes and intentions of happiness also change in the last decade just as radical as the technology around our everyday? With the help of the YouFab Global creative Award I intend to ask the same question again in a changed world. -
