de•struo : A Casted Collection

We fabricated a nine-look fashion collection which investigates the possibilities of implementing architectural casting as a method of producing wearable sculpture. De•struo explores the deterioration of rigid geometry on the human form through the transition of man-made shapes to more organic forms. This project both tests and challenges the physical and situational boundaries of cement and plaster casting. Casted artifacts were transformed into wearable textiles thus blurring the line between construction and fashion. The gradual dissolution of rule sets, to a varying degree in each garment, highlights the human figure in new ways. The collection also welcomes how geometric and pristine elements can be burned, cracked, and ruined much like in our surrounding environment. The result brings out a new beauty that can be found by putting together the remains of rubble.
