Please describe the concept of your artwork in 2000 words.
With a dramatic increase in take-out and delivery services, single-use food packaging becomes one of the major parts of global waste that could lead to pollution and habitat loss. According to research, plants and animals are at risk of losing more than half of their habitats in the next 30 years. It is essential to fight this consequential threat and educate our next generation to build a safer, healthier, and more resilient future.
With an increase in globalization and modernization, our younger generation becomes less exposed to wildlife and its habitat. The proposed solution is intended to raise awareness of our next generation by presenting an actionable example of conserving natural resources in a fun and creative way.
Box of Wildlife is a packaging design that provides an experience for children to learn the recycling process in a way that enhances its value through a fun activity of modifying packaging boxes into functional storage. With the design based on endangered species, it can raise awareness and build a connection between the recycling process and its effect on people, nature, and wildlife.
This packaging box is made from non-wood pulp with a waterproof additive from natural material added in the production process. The waterproof paper is not only renewable and environmentally friendly, but it is also durable and has a longer service life. The design of the box can be customized for various animals; it can also be used to introduce an endangered species in a specific region or country.
Box of Wildlife is designed to unleash children's creativity and imagination. The watercolor texture on the surface encourages children to decorate and make a personalized box of their own. It can turn into a moneybox, storage for small items and stationaries, hand puppet; the possibilities are endless.
