Brief concept description of the submitted project/idea
Being environmental friendly often runs against fashion industry, which always demands newer and trendier designs. Fashion industry is constantly listed as top waste generator among all kinds of industries. REBIRTH aims to design fashion accessories while acting responsibly to the earth.
Nowadays, Cultural and design affairs are held frequently worldwide. Strong key visual prints on canvas plays a remarkable role in strengthening cities’ cultural identity. Nonetheless, a huge waste is being generated because of these activities. On average, all these key visual prints are used only 3.5 days and then diminished right after events end. In Taiwan alone, in the past 10 years, the waste has amounted to the size of 375 Song-shan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. They are either being sent to incinerator or piled up is organizers’ offices. REBIRTH is the solution to the waste and will give it second life. We recycle representative cultural fairs’ canvas printouts. With REBIRTH, each design not only is fashionable and functional piece; furthermore, it serves a valuable documentary recording all the participants’ contribution to a city’s cultural movement! -

Since the kick off of REBIRTH project in 2020, there have been 30 plus events joining our plan. We have signed MOU with key cultural and design organizations including Taiwan Design Research Institute, Song-shan Cultural and Creative Park, The General Association of Culture, etc. In addition, we have started collaboration with IKEA Kaoshiung branch in recycling all the canvas used in the mall and agreed to buyback all the remade products in response to company’s environmental initiatives.
Now, to increase the demand of REBIRTH products and raise all collaborators reputation in supporting REBIRTH social impact efforts, we assist collaborators plan the marketing efforts early in advance. When events’ promotion phase starts, the REBIRTH design will be released and start pre-sale at the same time. By doing so, we can best utilize the time when events have the highest exposure to help advocate eco-design, therefore the necessary remade quantity can be better gauged, while inventory can be reduced. -
