継手：日本の伝統技術である木造建築工法。
釘や接着剤を必要としないので、この技法で作られたものは、簡単に組み立てたり、分解したり、再利用や
部分的に修理をすることが可能。
この工法を応用して腕輪をデザインした。
部分的にデザインを変えたり、修理を施し、次の世代へ受け継ぎ、長く愛用することができる。

TSUGITE is a traditional Japanese joinery technique for wood-structured buildings.
As it does not require nails or glue, items made with this system can be easily assembled, disassembled,
reused and repaired.　I applied this method to the design of the bangle "TSUGI-WA".
TSUGI also means "next".
It can be partly redesigned and repaired, so that it can be passed on to the next generation and loved for
a long time.

建築工事や家具製作時、解体工事等で廃棄処分されてしまう端材や廃材を使うことで資源を循環させる。
日本の杉や檜木を使うことで木のぬくもり・和 を感じ、また木の色や柄をあわせて楽しむことができる。
自由に組み換えることで自分らしく装うことができ、また部分的に修理をすることで愛着を持って使い続けられるのではと考える。
また、日本の伝統技術である継手に興味を持つきっかけとなればと思う。

By using scrap wood from construction, furniture making and demolition, we can recycle resources.
The use of Japanese cedar and hinoki wood allows us to feel the warmth and harmony of the wood and to enjoy the colours and patterns of the wood.
I believe that we can dress them in our own way by freely reassembling the parts, and that we can continue to use them with affection by repairing parts of them.
I also hope that this project will be a good opportunity for people to get interested in Japanese traditional technology "TSUGITE".
