塑膠污染為全球面臨的重大環境議題，因此從產品製造開始，我們希望改變常見的塑料文具，讓消費者意識到塑膠對環境的危害，urban prefer 水泥紙船膠帶台旨在透過日常物品的改變為環境友善的踏出第一步。

產品開發初期，我們從使用塑料量體大的膠帶台思考，將材料改用環保水泥，概念藉由環境友善的材料，替代文具中常見的塑料材質；再者選用水泥作為主要用料目的在於每一只產品在生產過程中產生的獨特紋理及質感，讓平凡的膠帶台也能展現高質感風貌，使水泥紙船膠帶台就像是桌面上的微型建築逸品；而即使最終進入回收鏈後也可碾碎作為道路基礎材料，進入二次循環鏈。

在水泥製作過程中，水與砂的比例、乾燥時間、季節變換，都是重要的考量因素，影響著灌入模具後的質地、顏色、硬度、體積收縮與氣孔的產生，在不斷的實驗與風乾測試，找出流動性好，質量結實的比例，最終歷時超過兩年，製造出完美的水泥紙船膠帶台，為文具產業實現對環境更友善的初衷。

Plastic pollution is a significant environmental issue that the world faces today. For this reason, we hope to change the use of plastic stationery, which is commonly seen, by starting from the production of products, and arouse customers’ awareness of the environmental damage of plastics. urban prefer Folded Paper Cement aims to take the first step to being eco friendly by making changes to our daily goods.

In the early phase of the product development, we reflected on ordinary tape dispensers, which are made of considerable amount of plastic, and changed the material to eco-friendly cement. The concept is to replace plastic, commonly seen in stationery, with eco-friendly materials. Another reason for choosing cement as the main material is that we hope to create unique texture and quality during the manufacturing process of every product. With that, an ordinary folded paper cement can have an extraordinary look. It can look like a micro architectural art on the desk. Even if the folded paper cement enters the recycling chain in the end, it can be crushed to be recirculated as a fundamental material for road construction.

During the manufacturing process of cement, the water-sand ratio, drying time, and change of seasons are all important factors to be considered. These factors influence the texture, color, hardness, volume contraction, and the occurrence of air holes after the cement is filled into the mold. After constant experiments and air dry tests, the ratios for making good-liquidity and solid cement have been discovered. Finally, after more than two years’ endeavor, the perfect urban prefer Folded Paper Cement has been successfully made and the stationery industry’s calling to be more eco friendly has been realized.

YOW!design 決定從旗下品牌 urban prefer 產品進行改變，選用塑膠材料量較多、體積較大的膠帶台作為再設計的商品，重新思考塑料文具對環境所帶來的衝擊，將常見的塑料文具透過替代材料，希望提出環境友善的文具設計概念，因此著手進行「水泥紙船膠帶台計畫」。整體設計概念來自童年回憶中，以乘載著探索夢想航行的紙船作為造型，因膠帶台總是隨著不同需求，被搬移到各處，就像是一艘小船航行，在不同港灣靠岸；

產品主材質選用低碳環保水泥，製造過程是以其他產業產生的廢棄物，作為製造所需的材料，同時透過處理垃圾廢棄物產生的熱能，轉化成能源，減少生產過程中使用的燃煤及有害物質的殘留，達到資源循環再利用的特點，生產出的水泥安全無毒，製作過程不需窯燒，降低對環境的傷害。而水泥紙船膠帶台的開發過程，斟酌水與砂比例、乾燥時間、季節變換，都是製作時需考量的因素，同時因採用水泥主體與膠帶切口等金屬元件的異材質組合，更須考量每個產品水泥收縮的程度的不同，如何讓兩者裝配密合上也成了考驗。最終透過不斷的實驗調配與風乾測試，找出流動性好，質量穩定結實的比例，在製作過程中水泥表面所產生的紋理及質感，使水泥紙船膠帶台儼然成為桌面上的微型建築逸品那般獨一無二，帶來意外的成果；

最終歷時超過兩年，製造出完美的水泥紙船膠帶台，期望為文具產業實現對環境更友善的初衷，希望消費者未來購買文具時，在塑料充斥的文具產業中，多了一項環境友善的選擇。

We must face the environmental damage of plastics, which is too severe to be ignored, while enjoying the convenient life that plastics bring us. From the greenhouse gas emitted during manufacturing, to marine pollution and plastic particles produced when destroying plastics, these facts repeatedly remind us that environmental protection and plastic reduction are contemporary issues; we must begin to make changes in life.

YOW!design decides to make the changes from products of its brand, urban prefer, and chooses to re-design tape dispensers, products made of considerable amount of plastic and larger in size. After rethinking the environmental impacts of plastic stationery, the commonly-seen plastic stationery is replaced by an alternative material. YOW!design hopes to propose an eco-friendly concept in stationery design, thus proceeding with its “Project of urban prefer Folded Paper Cement.” On the whole, the design concept is inspired from paper boats in childhood memories that sail to discover dreams. The folded paper cement is carried everywhere to meet people’s different needs. It is just like a little boat sailing and docking at different harbors.

The product’s main material is low-carbon, eco-friendly cement. Materials needed for manufacturing the cement come from the wastes produced in other industries. Meanwhile, heat produced during the waste treatment is transformed into energy, which helps reduce the remaining coal and hazardous substances and achieves the recirculation of resources. Cement produced during the process is safe and non-toxic. Plus, no kiln burning is needed in the process, thus reducing the harm to the environment. In the development of the folded paper cement, the water-sand ratio, drying time, and change of seasons, are all factors needed for consideration. At the same time, each cement product’s different contraction level should also be considered in order to join the different materials adopted for use together, that is, the cement main body and the metal components of the tape pressing wiper. How to bind the two materials firmly is a challenge as well. Finally, through constant compounding, experiments, and air dry tests, the ratios for making good-liquidity, stable, and solid cement have been discovered. Texture and quality created on the surface of cement during the manufacturing process make the folded paper cement so unique that it looks like a micro architectural art on the desk. It is an unexpected accomplishment.

Finally, after more than two years’ endeavor, the perfect urban prefer Folded Paper Cement has been successfully made, in hope of realizing the stationery industry’s calling to be more eco friendly.It is hoped that customers can have a choice to be eco friendly when shopping for stationery in the future, as the stationery industry is currently flooded with plastic products.
