Please describe the concept of your artwork in 2000 words.
The simplicity of KRUKJE becomes extra special because of the natural 'imperfections' of the material and the learning process of the makers. The result is a stylish interior icon that can be used as a stool, side table, or bedside table. Designed by Remko Verhaagen (Blooey).
Handmade by 50|50 Workcenter, a social woodwork shop of the Salvation Army in Enschede (NL) where people who have had some bad luck in life are coached and trained to become craftsmen/women. At least 50% of the proceeds of OUR collection go to the makers and materials. -

Work Specification
Made from reclaimed oak and sawdust from the social woodwork shop. Or made from lime wood from the Heemraadsingel in Rotterdam. The tree was planted in 1960 and had to be cut down by the municipality on 22 April 2019 due to a fungus and rot at the base of the trunk.
