Plantable Paper

Others
Combining the themes of eco-friendly and nutrition, I created a form of plantable packaging using paper and chia seeds.
When visiting the grocery shop, I noticed all the children's biscuits were individually wrapped with plastic, this became the source of inspiration for the project as the intention was to find an alternative to the plastic. In addition, the biscuits caused me to recall an activity I partook in primary school where the class grew chia seeds to make our own healthy sandwiches.
By blending sheets of damp paper, combining chia seeds and rolling the mixture flat to dry, the plantable paper acts as a useful form of packaging once it cut to encase each biscuit and can be planted once the biscuit has been consumed.
This product encourages children to simultaneously care for the planet, enjoy a sweet treat and balance their date by growing their own vegetable (Chia seeds are ideal as they grow all year round).
