Detailed explanation of the submitted project or idea (in English or both English and your language)
Our vision: to catalyse fertile dialogues on how empty villages will become productive again
Mission: Create an International BioEconomy Hub in the town of Astros in Northern Kynouria Arcadia Peloponissus Greece that will act as an accelarator for Cyclic and Bio Economy
Uniqueness: Create a Community Bio Fal labs where Science can be a driver for positive change
Science cannot reach its full potential unless citizens place TRUST in it. By fostering trust in science today it can inspire the scientists of tomorrow, for the development of future scientific discoveries and allow for their application in the real world in agriculture, manufacturing, technology so young people to stay in their regions, feel hopeful, making an income, keep their dignity and work IN and FOR Nature. Use the surrounding ecosystem for sustainable business while stewarding the planet as well.
The Community Bio Fab lab is the atypical physical leaning space for making local farmers, youth , women, NGO leaders, Civil society, business practitioners and administrators aware of what is Cyclical and BioEconomy with bio based raw materials. The lab will be digitalised to serve not only as school for curious but an information and ideas sharing place. A plethora of other biologists data and other scientists,, engineers as well as Academics and graduate students could be helping us to discover what is it we can do in fashion, construction, packaging, living soil making! An Eco(nomy) Eco(logy) pilot start up village in the making starting with FUNGI
In 2015 we invited Dr Gunter Pauli to come and introduce us to BLUE ECONOMY: use what is locally available and make cascading income using the waste of one process to make raw material of another process. Dr Ivanka Milenkovic Principal of System Ekofungi https://www.systemekofungi.com/ part of www.zeri.org assisted us to develop the process of growing mushroms on olive brunches and when the process is finished we put the waste of our production back to the olive orchards of the Region. -
How does your work address the 3 P’s (for Planet, for People, for Profit) for Sustainability?
Humans are part of Nature but the connection is broken and malfunctioning. Industrial development and urbanism are key reasons. Our wealth is only measured in accumulating money and not in the well being and thriving of our ecosystem
Our project facilitates the understanding of systems and absolute interconnectedness. Ordinary people do not know comprehend and behave according to systems and wholistic wellbeing. The egos and profits are drivers and the present system is broken. With fires, floods, droughts and severe heat waves people are starting to feel the need to understand the connection, understand autopoiesis (creating conditions conducive to life) and ACT on it efficiently. They are busy making an income! What if their income bridges the microcosm and macrocosm and give another narrative
That respecting all living creatures, caring for forests, minding the seas, can also be profitable and securing income
But they need PROOF ! tangible, effective, simple and comprehensible proof that changing a paradigm where all kinds of people/participants can indeed work with a new mind set: Be inspired by the wisdom of Nature where waste does not exist and make it into a real example next door where they can experiment with ideas and take them one step further:
Be founders of Cyclic BioEconomy enterprises using what is available and leaving no one behind -

Special Prize Question 1: Is there a mechanism in place to inherit culture and industry as assets for people living in that area 100 or even 1000 years from now?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autopoiesis
In their 1972 book Autopoiesis and Cognition, Chilean biologists Maturana and Varela described how they invented the word autopoiesis.[4]: 89 : 16
"It was in these circumstances ... in which he analyzed Don Quixote's dilemma of whether to follow the path of arms (praxis, action) or the path of letters (poiesis, creation, production), I understood for the first time the power of the word "poiesis" and invented the word that we needed: autopoiesis. This was a word without a history, a word that could directly mean what takes place in the dynamics of the autonomy proper to living systems."
They explained that,[4]: 78
"An autopoietic machine is a machine organized (defined as a unity) as a network of processes of production (transformation and destruction) of components which: (i) through their interactions and transformations continuously regenerate and realize the network of processes (relations) that produced them; and (ii) constitute it (the machine) as a concrete unity in space in which they (the components) exist by specifying the topological domain of its realization as such a network."
They described the "space defined by an autopoietic system" as "self-contained", a space that "cannot be described by using dimensions that define another space. When we refer to our interactions with a concrete autopoietic system, however, we project this system on the space of our manipulations and make a description of this projection."
Industrial processes must be designed in that principal to secure the inheritance of LIFE
Mechanism where inheriting culture as asset
is NATURE's order and the total symbiosis with the rest of the Palnetary ecosystems
The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively as well as the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society can be inherited only if all creatures and systems that we depend on survives and thrives ... This cannot be only Humans that distract the Natural Order and create the distruction of all other species.
Peace and respect for life and social behaviors and believes are part of this mechanism for Culture being inherrited -
Special Prize Question 2: What is the positive impact on biodiversity? Is the project creating a cycle not just from a human-centered perspective but for the entire ecosystem?
Absolutely !
Understanding the role of fungi as Nature's greatest CLEANERS and DECOMPOSERS that from death they create life is essential to understanding systems design and interdependance
It is essential to understand the wisdom of Nature, being inspired and design everyday solutions based on that mind set
The notion of Biome = a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g. forest or tundra in a healthy living soil where all food is being produced is essential for Human biome! The intestinal communities of humans and animals research shows that is linked to the brain and all other major body functions.
If we care for the soil and render it a living soil, we eat living heatly foods then our planet can be helped as we help all ecosystems to flourish by preventing diseases. Carbon sequesting is absolutely essential for LIFE ON THE PLANET not only for few people in Astros Arcadia and the industry needs to get going... and the citizens need get going ... and the Governors needs to understand the decisions they make! A small rural underfunded Bio Fab Lab can become a beacon for change, an example of the needed change and PROVIDE jobs to the locals to stay and PROTECT all surrounding ecosystems including our black pine forest with extreme biodiversity (open botanicla garden of the Mediterennean Region) Now it threatend by all climate change disasters with fire being the most emminent threat -
Special Prize Question 3: Are you enabling new forms of collaboration with others? New forms of collaboration might include cross-industry cooperation, co-creation with consumers, or role transformations within the supply chain.
Absoslutely correct

Christiana Gardikioti Founder Key concept Cyclic Bio Economy From waste (olive brunches now being burned) we make oyster mushrooms and we teach the basic principles of Cyclical Economy The agricultural waste of our 45000 olive trees can become raw material for food production process stewarding the environment as the olive brunches are shredded and not burned and women and young farmers can generate income as well as deal with food security.
