Detailed explanation of the submitted project or idea (in English or both English and your language)

From the pruning of a tree, we can see the circular economy, net zero carbon emission and local creativity.
From street trees, school pruning, fruit tree pruning, windswept wood, dead wood, etc., most of the forest residue in Taiwan has not been processed by the forest industry for a long time. As a forest professional, REWOOD wood edelweiss collects forest residue, which has been defined as garbage in the past, and uses it as wood furniture material through the professional classification of the material sources; and uses the remaining wood to produce "biochar", which can effectively reduce global warming, and recycles the high-temperature water smoke "wood edelweiss" during the carbonization. The leftover wood is then carbonized at a high temperature of 800 degrees Celsius to make "biochar" that can effectively reduce global warming. At the same time, the high-temperature smoke from the carbonized water is recycled into "wood vinegar liquid", which is the source of the "Wood Vinegar Master" sub-brand, and the wood vinegar liquid will be used to develop cleaning products, anti-bacterial products, as well as the most high-quality biotechnology and green building materials, thus completing the forest recycling chain.
With the charcoal economy and green industry as the core, REWOOD will create abundant and friendly sustainable values for Taiwan's forests. REWOOD has also set up the "Forest Cycle Hukou Creation Youth Training Station", which has attracted the participation of 20 woodworking instructors and more than 700 young people, so as to continue to pass down the technology of the forest industry, and enable young people to return to their hometowns to start up their own businesses, and to invest in the cyclic economy, so that the protection of the forests can not be confined to blind afforestation, and that it is necessary to know how to manage the biodiversity; REWOOD develops its business around the core of "carbon sequestration" and creates the opportunity for young people to return to their hometowns. From the ReWood Workshop woodworking industrial chain, the carbon economy green industrial chain, and the wood vinegar daemon clean biotechnology chain, the company has accomplished the utilization of the entire forest residue.
Currently, we are working with AUO's "Mabushan Forest", where the annual pruning and thinning of about 10 tons of trees is burned or utilized at low value-added levels, but through REWOOD's recycling and value-added treatment, it will generate the sustainable value of carbon sequestration and ESG every year, as well as the value of over 8 million dollars of various projects and services; and with the Department of Forestry and Conservation (Forestry Department), we will utilize the invasive species to launch a series of seven new projects. In cooperation with the Forestry and Conservation Department (FDA), a series of seven varieties of small-flowered Zelkova products were introduced by utilizing invasive exotic species, and the first batch of 5,000 bottles were sold out quickly, and are currently in continuous production and sale; the Daxue Mountain Deadwood Project loaded and cut up dead wood, assisting in the retailing of domestic timber on the internet, as well as assisting in the promotion of the utilization of local Taiwan cinnamon; the cooperation between the two companies has resulted in more than one million dollars in projects, and in the addition of a 5-6% return on the sale of products, which supports the sustainability of the forests under the FDA's forest management program. The two organizations have over a million dollars in projects, plus a 5~6% return on product sales, supporting the sustainability of the forestry industry and the Department of Conservation, and establishing a long-term cooperative business model. -

Rewood's work focuses on three dimensions of sustainability.
On the "Planet" side, the forest cycle model effectively reduces pruning and dead wood waste, prevents pests and diseases, and reduces the risk of forest fires. The innovative application of biochar in building materials provides solutions for the development of sustainable building materials.
In terms of "People", the cooperation with arborists transforms professional knowledge into environmental education in schools, cultivating children's love for nature. Through the establishment of carpentry workshops, we attract and train students who are interested in carpentry skills, realizing the inheritance of skills. At the same time, the creations of these students are displayed on the REWOOD platform, and the sale of their works leads to a cyclical pattern of tree pruning at the front end, bringing more employment opportunities to the community.
In terms of "Profit", we have realized corporate profits from the creations of the woodworkers, charcoal and wood vinegar cleaning products. These profits not only contribute to the economic development of the community, but also allow REWOOD to continue to invest in the front end of the tree pruning cycle. REWOOD's work is aimed at the ecological health of the planet, the well-being of the human race, and at the same time maintains a sustainable profitability of the enterprise, forming a balanced development and sustainable operation model. -

Special Prize Question 1: Is there a mechanism in place to inherit culture and industry as assets for people living in that area 100 or even 1000 years from now?

The Rewood Forest Cycle is based on the core concept of "sustainable circular economy of forests", which is dedicated to transforming waste wood resources into economically valuable products while emphasizing cultural and industrial heritage. This model not only helps to reduce waste, but also makes an important contribution to the sustainable development of forests.
In terms of cultural heritage, Rewood has passed on traditional woodworking skills to the next generation by setting up woodworking workshops and training returnee learners. This not only promotes the preservation of traditional woodworking culture, but also integrates forest culture into product design and raises public awareness of the importance of forests.
In terms of heritage, the development of Rewood has not only created local employment opportunities, but has also led to the development of a thriving forest recycling industry. The expansion of this industry can bring new economic growth to the region and contribute to sustainable development.
Rewood's asset inheritance mechanism is sustainable. In addition to its current work, Rewood expects to establish a museum of woodworking culture, organize forest culture festivals, and cultivate forest recycling talents in the future, in order to inherit the culture and the industry as valuable assets for future generations. This model not only focuses on environmental protection, but also provides a sustainable future for the economic and cultural heritage of the local community, and Rewood Forest Cycle's efforts will make a huge difference to the people living in the area 100 or even 1,000 years from now, as well as positively contributing to the preservation of the forest culture and to the issues of economic development and environmental protection. -
Special Prize Question 2: What is the positive impact on biodiversity? Is the project creating a cycle not just from a human-centered perspective but for the entire ecosystem?

Through the practice of tree pruning, the Rewood Forest Cycle Model positively impacts biodiversity in a tangible way. The mechanism behind pruning is to help maintain the ecological integrity of the forest and to create more ecological niches that promote species diversity. When trees in a forest are properly pruned, they become healthier and more vibrant, which helps to provide diverse habitats that attract a wide range of wildlife.
During the pruning process, pruned branches and dead wood are recycled, which helps reduce the accumulation of waste and further protects the forest ecosystem. Reducing the accumulation of waste helps to minimize the growth of pests and diseases, as well as reducing the risk of fire, all of which are threats to forest biodiversity. This practice of pruning for recycling maintains ecosystem stability, providing more habitat and food sources for a variety of species to coexist.
In short, pruning not only maintains the health of the forest, but also contributes to the conservation of biodiversity. Reducing the risk of pests, diseases and fires is not only a human-centered approach, but one that takes into account the entire ecosystem and the protection of the environment, using the most basic and feasible way of pruning to actively support the sustainable development of the forest ecosystem. The Rewood model not only focuses on issues such as environmental protection, ecological balance and waste reuse, but also provides more opportunities for biodiversity in the forest and builds a healthier and more stable ecosystem for a healthier planet. -
Special Prize Question 3: Are you enabling new forms of collaboration with others? New forms of collaboration might include cross-industry cooperation, co-creation with consumers, or role transformations within the supply chain.

REWOOD is actively facilitating new forms of cross-border cooperation to promote the expansion and diversified application of the forest cycle model. Cross-industry cooperation has already begun, including cooperation with cement and building materials manufacturers, focusing on the application of biochar in building materials. This collaboration has not only broadened the scope of biochar applications, but has also strengthened the development of sustainable building materials, from structural materials to indoor soft furnishings, which have already yielded initial results and met market demand.
In terms of changing roles in the supply chain, REWOOD has successfully transformed the expertise and skills of arborists into environmental education programs on campus by working with them. This change not only extends the influence of arborists, but also provides children with an opportunity to learn more about trees and ecology, thus promoting the development of environmental education.
In addition, REWOOD plays an active role in consumer co-creation by establishing woodworking workshops to attract and train students interested in learning the art of woodworking. These students not only pass on their woodworking skills, but also have the opportunity to display their creations on REWOOD's platform, and through the sale of their creations, they are able to promote more front-end pruning operations, thus realizing the concept of consumer participation in co-creation.
Overall, Rewood has expanded its scope of cooperation and strengthened its impact on sustainability and biodiversity conservation through three directions: cross-border cooperation, changing roles in the supply chain, and new forms of consumer participation in co-creation. These forms of cooperation not only help to achieve REWOOD's recycling goals, but also provide more ESG social values for other companies and organizations.
