The journey began when Hotel Emporium’s Co-Founder and CEO Andy De Silva found major environmental issues in the hospitality industry, including plastic waste, transportation emissions, and bacteria contamination. In trying to overcome the situation and reduce the negative impact on the environment, he developed ECO POD, a waterless amenity in powder form with compostable packaging that responds to consumer and industry calls for greener options.
ECO POD has had a great reception since its launch among eco-focused hotels willing to reach their sustainability goals without sacrificing quality. Its innovative combination of lightweight powder formulation with stackable packaging addressed several operational challenges that hotels face: reducing costs of transportation, conserving storage space, and doing away with the bacteria risks associated with shared dispensers.
