Upcycling WorkShop Vol.2

We live in a mass production and mass consumption society. Things that are used are thrown away and burned in the end. This brings with it many costs. Systems of recycling and reuse are necessary.
We have focused on *used textiles out of all this waste. In Japan, things in good condition are sold at markets as outlets. Things in bad condition are cut into small pieces and used as dust cloths.
*Used textiles: Waste textile products including used clothing no longer needed
From among these limited options, we propose a project utilizing a process that uses digital fabrication. In this project, we left as much space as possible for customization in the creation process. And we created a highly original workshop through rapid prototyping only possible with digital fabrication.
For the workshops, we established the theme of creating sholder bags.
The participants line up like a puzzle the pieces of used textile processed into a variety of squares by laser processing to create a sheet with an original pattern. Subsequently, a sketch that will form the model for the bag they designed themselves is read, and this sheet is laser processed and sewn with a sewing machine.
They end up with a one-of-a-kind sholder bag that has the pattern and shape that they envisioned.
