Challenge: How might we minimize food waste by reducing the amount of food thrown away at the Shyomikigen (best by date)?
"Smiley Banana" is a concept that will transform food nearing its best by date from waste to want. Vending machines would be installed near supermarkets and loaded with food nearing its best by date. Users can scan the QR code of foods to find recipes and use the app to share their own recipes and ideas with other users.
